Coffee for Muriel

An exploration of love, sacrifice, and the strength of sisterhood. In the shadow of their mother’s terminal illness, two sisters confront their differing visions for their family and the future at 3am.

Exit 11’s production of Coffee for Muriel premieres at Authentic Playground in Taipei, Taiwan on January 12 – 14 and 19 – 21, 2024 as part of Taipei Shorts Remix.

Cast and Creative Team Bios

Hsuan “Angela” Chen (陳芷萱) is an actress and personal tutor dedicated to balancing life and achieving her career goals. Her hobbies include drip coffee, climbing, hiking, and racing to watch the sunrise. If you meet on the mountain, let her know you’ve seen her work, and she’ll treat you to the world’s best cup of coffee.

Clare Liu (劉語芊) is a Taiwan-based actress. She developed an interest in acting and started to perform on stage at the age of 14. With passion and ambition, she attended the Department of Theatre Arts of Taipei National University of the Arts where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in performing.

Stephen Douglas Wright is a writer, director, and educator from Michigan, USA. You can learn more about his work at stephendouglaswright.com.

Ethan David Lee (李奕辰) is a British-American director, producer, and curator based in Taipei. He’s a Creative Director of Exit 11 Performing Arts Company and graduated from New York University Abu Dhabi with a BA in Theater and Film & New Media. His theater, film, and curatorial work has been seen in New York, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Eindhoven, Sydney, and Taipei.

Kevin Ke is a Taiwanese-American theater maker and dancer based across Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea. He is a Creative Director of Exit 11 Performing Arts Company.
